Improvisation : Action.

Yesterday was splatter testing with fake blood, for photographic purposes. My roommate that will remain anonymous because he asks - let us call him Bob - and I took several pictures and videos to see how things would go with the splatters in matters of light, coloring, etc. We learned many things, but two main discoveries have to be pointed out :

1) Fake blood needs clear light. The orange color of energy-saving bulbs does make every picture orange/brown/blur/dark. But it also make the very red paint look like ketchup on my skin, and to be honest, for the same result, I would prefer ketchup because...

3) WHAT A PAIN IN THE ASS TO GET RID OF IT ! It's simply awful, washing five time my hands with soap, using alcohol and even oil, still red. It sticks more than real blood ! I guess that using a first THICK layer of make-up to cover every little inch of skin may be good for next time. So I can just wash it away and good riddance. Now, I just look stupid.

One must learn.

Here some pictures for your attention. We had great fun doing morons so why not share ?

Trust me, I'm a professional.
I like how this one is dark, but still the fake blood looks red. I do prefer pictures like this rather than ultra-bright flashed photos. But usually it works better with flash :

Run for your life, I take care of this inconvenience. You may buy me an Ice-Cream.

Done.

I'm too sexy for my Billhook.

Same place, without flash. Looks less "clean" and I like it, but the blood looks orange.

Please, allow meditative posture after the kill.
As a comparison, a very, very similar picture without then with flash :

Time for shower...
More to come... And with a proper article ! Next time's topic : Dealing with the psychological factor.

By that I mean your sanity.

The end is nigh.

Ladies and gentleman, today is dark day in the history of Zombie Hunting. (You can take your hats down for a sad moment of silence).

Not that such hard times never happened before, in fact we should be used to it now. But this, my friends, is too much. I need to share...

The World War Z trailer.

World War Z, one of the best zombie story ever told, may it be in books, movies, series, comics, orally, or even carved on clay tablets. A massive scale, human-centered, übermulti-characters told, psychological, reflective, socially critic, epic, realistic, most badass zombie book you can find. We knew the movie was coming, that the script was rerererewritten an incalculable amount of time. Still, there was a slight chance - very slight - that something nice would come out of it.

Lol. What fools we make.

This trailer sweep away all hopes and confirms, if needed, that Hollywood has again bought a brand name in order to spoil it. This is not a rape, this is a Gang-Bang. A very america centered trailer is already betraying the spirit of WWZ, but Running/Crawling/Bowling zombies ? A one-man centered family drama facing apocalypse ? Oh... wait... hei, did actually Roland Emmerich got to realize that pile of SH*T that moves on my computer screen ?

Sorry, I got vulgar. Must be the overwhelming emotions of seeing the novel that represents - to me - the flagship of serious zombie use in storytelling turned into wanna-look-serious goofiness that Resident Evil movies would not disown. Honestly, not only do they run, again, but look at that "pile-crawling" scene. Allow me to scream a honest "What the Fuck ?"

They climb on walls ! Soon they are going to grow wings and... Well... in the sequel, probably.

My roommate trying to help : "At least they are not not blue". Does not help. "Next movie they will build zombie ships and sail away !".... Be careful what you wish for...

I can't express the feeling of disaster that grasps my heart while watching this. This is a sad, sad day.

Tip of the day : Read the book. And forget about these videos you just saw. Wait, there were two of them ?
